About Him

Detroit native, United States Air Force veteran and Full Sail University Music Business graduate Daniel “A1” Hayes is the Founder of A1 Promotions. Daniel “A1” Hayes also known as the Hip Hop Promotion Executive has received multi-platinum and platinum plaques for urban marketing and radio promotions from some of the biggest names in Hip Hop which includes Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Fetty Wap, French Montana, Rick Ross, Trey Songz, 2 Chainz, Robin Thicke, Lupe Fiasco, B.O.B and several others.

Hayes began working in the music industry as in intern at Setting The Pace Promotions 2011 where he learned the fundamentals of independent radio promotion, relationship building, and account management. It was then that Daniel established a great rapport and worked closely with his mentor, music industry vet Lester Pace (Former Urban National Promotions Director at Interscope Records)

Months later Hayes went to intern for Warner Bros. Records A&R department in Burbank under Alaska Gedeon (Sr A&R Director, Warner Bros. Credits: K. Michelle, Omarion) and Michelle Finn (A&R Warner Bros. Records). While interning in Burbank, CA, Hayes later started interning at Atlantic Records in the Rhythmic Radio Promotion Department with Dan Posner and Dwight Willacy of Atlantic Records. After his internship was completed Hayes started working for Lester as his executive assistant and right hand man, where he sharpened his skills as a music executive working with Interscope recording artists.

While working for Lester, Hayes would later be introduced to artist management veteran Kenneth Crear (Ciara, Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Dru Hill, Janet Jackson, Mary Mary, Mindless Behavior) who taught him real artist management one on one for the next three years before becoming the official road/tour manager for Conjunction Entertainment Recording Artist Mindless Behavior.

During the course of working with both Lester Pace and Kenneth Crear, Daniel would later move back to LA to work in Mike Caren’s office (President of Worldwide A&R Atlantic/Warner Music Group) with the entire Atlantic A&R Staff. It was there where Daniel would show off his marketing skills before being assigned the duties of a product manager for upcoming rapper Kevin Gate’s. This would later turn in to a chance to become the new Director of Urban Marketing for Atlantic Records/Artist Partners. During this time Hayes later received job interest from Epic Records, Capitol Records, and Def Jam Records. Hayes would ultimately take the role as Urban Promotions Coordinator at RCA Records in New York City working under the Executive Vice President of Urban Promotions, Geo Bivins.

After working with countless superstar artist on the RCA roster including Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, Usher, Bryson Tiller, A$AP Rocky, R. Kelly, G-Eazy and T-Pain, Hayes was encouraged by his boss, to start his own promotion company and work as a independent promoter (contractor) for RCA. Hayes would ultimately leave New York and return back to Atlanta to start A1 Promotions and to spearhead grassroots and club promotions in efforts to connect the artist’s music to the streets and create awareness by securing club rotation for new RCA acts that needed to be heard from the ground level, before being introduced to mainstream radio. This move allowed Hayes to do independent work for several other record labels and independent artists which led him to being apart of one of the best independent radio promotion teams in the business that assisted in over ten number one records at urban radio in 2016.
